Help us wish Keelan Moxley, who cannot have a birthday party due to the pandemic, a Happy 9th Birthday

Two years ago, the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup and along the way, we were introduced to six-year-old, youth hockey player Keelan Moxley. Keelan was the girl that Brett Connolly tried to throw a warmup puck to two different times before a third was finally given to her by an adult. The clip went viral and inadvertently started a national conversation about the preferential treatment of boys over girls.

Keelan would later meet Connolly and was invited back for the Stanley Cup Final, where she was caught freaking out on camera after Conno scored in Game Four.

In short, Keelan gave us a lot of joy back then, which is why I’d like to return the favor. On Saturday, May 16, Keelan will be turning nine-years-old. The problem is she can’t have a birthday party due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Brett Connolly’s puck girl, Keelan Moxley, returns to Capital One Arena as mite on ice

Keelan Moxley melted our hearts during the Capitals’ Stanley Cup run. Friday, the adorable seven-year-old returned to Capital One Arena to participate as a mite-on-ice.

“She obviously had a great time but was really nervous to skate on the same ice as the Caps,” Keelan’s dad Andrew Moxley told me.

Keelan first gained fame during Game Two of the Capitals’ first-round series against the Columbus Blue Jackets. In a viral video, Capitals forward Brett Connolly tried, tried, and tried again to get a warmup puck to Keelan. Connolly became infuriated as a parent gave the pucks he intended to Keelan to two other boys.

Keelan Moxley got to see Brett Connolly score a goal in the Stanley Cup Final. Her reaction was priceless.

Nearly two months ago, Keelan Moxley went viral for the range of emotions she had to go through while trying to secure a warmup puck from Capitals forward Brett Connolly.

Monday night, the adorable Caps fan was at Capital One Arena for Game Four of the Stanley Cup Final and she experienced even more feels. But this time it was for the very good reason.

Connolly scored a goal late in the third period and Moxley lost the ability to can.

Keelan Moxley meets Brett Connolly after Caps overtime win

After going viral, Keelan Moxley was a special guest during the Capitals Game Five at Capital One Arena, Saturday.

From meeting owner Ted Leonsis before puck drop, sitting in complimentary seats on the glass, and receiving a signed stick from Brett Connolly, Keelan certainly had a big night.

It was made even more special after the overtime win.

During warmups on Sunday, ahead of Game Two of the Capitals first round matchup against the Blue Jackets, Brett Connolly spotted an enthusiastic — and completely adorable — fan banging on the glass, and decided to make her night extra special.
