The New York Rangers have found their new head coach a month and two days after firing David Quinn.
The New York Post’s Larry Brooks is reporting that the Rangers have reached an agreement with Gerard Gallant, formerly of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Sportsnet analyst Elliotte Friedman was a guest on NHL Network on Tuesday and gave some more insight into the Capitals coaching search.
Over the weekend, Friedman reported that the Capitals have interviewed Mike Babock and Gerard Gallant during Hockey Night In Canada’s Saturday Night Headlines segment. In late August, he also reported the team had interviewed Peter Laviolette after asking for permission from the Nashville Predators.
During the interview with EJ Hradek, Friedman handicapped Mike Babcock’s chances of becoming head coach while also giving context on what went wrong for the Capitals in the bubble.

In a complete and absolute shock, the Vegas Golden Knights fired Gerard Gallant, the coach who led their team to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final, on Wednesday morning and replaced him with Peter DeBoer. Gallant is scheduled to lead the Pacific Division at the All-Star Game after VGK had the highest points percentage in the division by end of play last Thursday.
The Golden Knights have lost four-consecutive games and currently sit fifth in the division, three points out of first-place Arizona.
