Michal Kempny helps rebuild ravaged Czech hometown after devastating EF-3 tornado

Michal Kempny is helping clean up the South Moravia area after an EF-3 tornado ravaged several Czech villages, including his hometown of Hodonín, on Thursday night. The tornado, which had winds of at least 136 mph (219km/h) per the BBC, left five people dead and more than 150 others injured.

“I still can’t believe what kind of a catastrophe struck the south of Moravia yesterday,” Kempny said on Instagram according to a translation by RMNB’s Alexandra Petáková. “The region I hail from and where I love to return. Today’s return is different and personal. Assessing the current situation gives me chills. I am very grateful that my family and closest people are alright and safe, but on the other hand, I know many families were not that lucky and that makes me feel sad. Stay strong south Moravia! We will get through this! #Lužice”

Capitals draft pick Martin Haš scores goal, tallies three points in World Junior Championship game

Martin Haš scored his first career goal in the U-20 World Junior Championship, Saturday.

The towering defenseman tallied three points in the Czech Republic’s 4-3 upset loss to Germany on Saturday.

The Capitals selected Haš in the fifth round (153rd overall) in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Marty Erat Scores a Goal on a Net That is Neither Empty Nor His Own Team’s (GIF)

Flag mouthguards are the best.

Before today, Martin Erat‘s goals this year went like this: nothing for four months, accidentally scored on own team’s net, empty-netter. He literally hadn’t scored on an opponent’s net that had an actual goalie in it since April of last year. So, naturally every cynical Caps fan on the planet knew how his Erat’s Olympic tournament would go.

It was just inevitable that he’d break through on international ice, and that’s exactly what happened in the early morning hours of Friday. While you were sleeping, Erat scored the Czech Republic’s first goal in a 4-2 win over the Latvians.
