Alex Ovechkin made his first public appearance back in Russia on Thursday after returning to his home country earlier this week. Ovi, his wife Nastya, and their son Ilya took in Game Six of the KHL’s Gagarin Cup Finals between CSKA Moscow and Ak Bars Kazan.
Ak Bars shut out CSKA 3-0 in the matchup and forced a deciding Game Seven on Saturday.

Hockey Hall of Famer Sergei Fedorov has a new job. Four years after his tenure as general manager ended, Fedorov was named the head coach of CSKA Moscow – the same team where he started his playing career as a teeanger.
Igor Nikitin, who had signed a three-year contract in June 2020, was relieved by CSKA of his duties. The reason for his departure was not provided.

Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin is having a splendid summer. A week after showing his friends how to stick to the script in the club and days after participating in a charity basketball game with his mom, the Russian machine turned up at a CSKA Moscow basketball game with his fiancée Nastya Shubskaya.
Ovechkin shelved his Nike gear to dress as a can of Coke, which is another of his sponsors.
Former Hershey Bears coach Mark French won his first KHL game. Medvescak Zagreb blew out star-studded CSKA Moscow (managed by former Capital Sergey Fedorov) in a score of 7-1.
It was also the Croatian club’s first game in the KHL. Before this season, Medvescak played in the Austrian EBEL league.
