Alex Ovechkin is running out of room in his bed for all his trophies, according to hilarious cartoon

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has earned some serious hardware over the course of the 2017-18 season. The Prince of Wales trophy, Conn Smythe, Stanley Cup and, as of Wednesday night, his seventh Rocket Richard trophy.

Ovechkin’s wife, Nastya, posted a cartoon to her Instagram stories, depicting the very real issue that they have with Ovi’s latest award: they’re running out of space in their bed.

Evgeny Kuznetsov and Braden Holtby finish behind Alex Ovechkin in Conn Smythe voting

On Tuesday, as the Capitals celebrated their Stanley Cup win with a parade and rally, the Professional Hockey Writers Association released the ballots of each member that voted to award the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Alex Ovechkin, who was ultimately awarded the honor, received 13 out of a possible 18 votes. Evgeny Kuznetsov, who had a strong case to take the award himself, finished second in voting. Goaltender Braden Holtby was third-place choice.

According to the PWHA, voting was scored using a 5-3-1 format, and was tallied by the NHL with 10 minutes remaining in Game Five.

Alex Ovechkin sleeps with the Stanley Cup

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin isn’t quite ready to let the Stanley Cup out of his sight. Over the last 48-hours, since winning the championship with the Capitals Thursday, Ovechkin has celebrated in the MGM hotel lobby, partied in a Vegas nightclub, on the Caps flight back to DC, a Clarendon bar, Nationals Park, and Georgetown Waterfront.

Saturday evening was, by comparison, a much quieter affair. Ovi finally took the cup home, along with his Conn Smythe trophy, and spent the evening with his family, friends, and the other Caps Russians.

Alex Ovechkin becomes second Russian-born player ever to win Conn Smythe Trophy as playoffs MVP

The Washington Capitals are the 2017-18 Stanley Cup champions, but that wasn’t the only trophy awarded on the ice for their historic win. There was the little matter of who would receive the Conn Smythe Trophy as the 2017-18 Stanley Cup playoffs MVP.

Though a strong case could be, and was, made for Evgeny Kuznetsov, realistically there was no other choice but to award it to Alex Ovechkin.
