The Washington Capitals took the ice on Thursday ahead of what will be the team’s biggest dress rehearsal yet before they leave for its bubble in Toronto on Sunday.
There were Ovi goals, social distant cellys, and lots of special teams practice.

Alex Ovechkin went bardown on Braden Holtby during practice.
His celebration was both a delight and socially responsible during the coronavirus pandemic.
Nicklas Backstrom is officially 100 percent healthy after missing the past eight games with an upper-body injury. And no one was more happy to hear the news than Tom Wilson.
At Sunday’s practice, Wilson was matched up with Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin on the top line. In the middle of practice, Wilson could not hold in his excitement any longer and gave his liney a bear-hug.

TJ Oshie returned to practice on Friday morning. He had missed Thursday morning’s skate and was held out of the line-up for the match-up against the Caroline Hurricanes due to illness.
The Capitals face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, so the return of their second-highest goal-scorer (tied with Jakub Vrana with 23 goals) is especially welcome.
“It’ll be important for us to try and get a win tomorrow night and try to take whatever mental edge or peace we can,” Oshie said after practice. “Knowing if we accomplish what we want to that there’s a good chance we’re going to have to go through these guys.”

If you thought the Capitals would be hanging their heads and feeling sorry for themselves after losing five consecutive games, you’d be wrong.
After a late start to practice due to a team meeting, the Capitals took the ice and they were loose.
A perfect example would be Evgeny Kuznetsov. The Capitals center, who was recently demoted to the third line, was one of the first players on the ice on Monday and he stayed on the ice for more than thirty minutes after practice officially ended to practice one-timers.

Monday is a federal holiday in the United States honoring civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King Jr. MedStar Capitals Iceplex was filled to the brink for practice because of this. It was the Caps’ final stop in Arlington, Virginia before the All-Star Break and bye week.
After practice, a throng of Capitals fans screamed at the gate for forward Jakub Vrana to come sign autographs.
According to RMNB’s Elizabeth Kong, Vrana was about to walk into the locker room, but he stopped and stood in the doorway, considering if he should come over or not. As people kept yelling, Vrana began smiling and decided to stop by.
As he did, he made sure to tell fans why it was such a big decision.
