Someone Threw a Crab on the Ice, Because Baltimore

Right after Casey Wellman scored a humdinger of a goal off some anonymous Bruin’s puffybum during Tuesday’s Baltimore Hockey Classic, a fan threw a crab on the ice. It’s the octopus thing in Detroit… crustacean version!

Yeah, Baltimore’s never gonna get a pro hockey team.

The Capitals went on to lose in the shootout. All three preseason games have gone to the gimmick, which is just upsetting. Also upsetting: conditions at Baltimore Arena, which Alex Ovechkin called “kind of dangerous” and “kind of scary” when speaking to Sky Kerstein of 106.7 The Fan.

Russian Machine Breaks Glass at Baltimore Hockey Classic (GIFs)

The Russian machine made an impact of sorts at the Baltimore Classic on Tuesday night. Zeroing in on D-man Chris Casto in the corner, Alex Ovechkin gently brushed up against the glass, which promptly shattered (perhaps special birthday powers?)

The crew at Baltimore Arena took some time to make repairs, so the teams went to intermission with 4 minutes still remaining in the second period.

And yeah, the photographer behind the glass looks a bit derpy, he protected his super expensive camera, so back off dude.

Tuesday’s Baltimore Hockey Classic may have been dampened — see what we did there? — by puddles, poor ice conditions, and a Predators win, but there was one high point. Midway through the second period, Alex Ovechkin skated down the ice before Preds’ defenseman Ryan Ellis tried to separate Ovi from the puck at the half wall. Ellis lost. Apparently, really bad.
