The Washington Capitals have extended their winning streak to seven games now, beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-1.
The Jets out-shot the Caps 34 to 18.
The Washington Capitals beat the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night! Their seventh game with goalie hugs in a row! The Winnipeg Jets are basically the Washington Capitals of the West, in terms of hugging, but the Capitals got three goal hugs AND a goalie hug line, so…the Jets are, like, the lower case capitals of the west.
For a recap of all the hockey that happened, Mr. Cerullo’s recap has you covered and he’ll have the number for you in the morning! What a man, what a man, what a mighty good, etc.
For everything but the hockey (…and a little bit of the hockey when it’s relevant to emotional narratives arcs), here’s all the miscellaneous you may have missed!
Sunday night, we had a battle between two division leaders for ya before you need to head to work in the morning. Did the Caps make the beginning of this work week more tolerable or did the Jets turn your Sunday scary?
Nicklas Backstrom got us started with a snipe from the slot to give the Caps a 1-0 lead. That lead was short lived as former Caps center, Mathieu Perreault struck soon after to give us a 1-1 tie. Carl Hagelin scored right out of the box to restore the lead in the second.
Lars Eller sealed it with an empty netter.
Caps beat Jets 3-1!
Newly-acquired forward Carl Hagelin scored his second goal as a Capital Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets.
The speedy penalty killer scored on a breakaway upon exiting the penalty box. The goal was assisted by Nic Dowd.
The stunning play would end up being the game-winning goal.
The Washington Capitals will play their 69th game of the season tonight. There were 68 games before this one, so this one is number 69. That’s one less than 70. It’s 69. The other team is the Jets. 69.
The 69th game begins at 7 PM. Streamed the niceness using the My Teams app, and delight in the recapitulatory wonders of Chris Cerullo here on RMNB. 69.
