The Washington Capitals were missing several lineup regulars at their practice in Seattle on Monday.

Defensemen Rasmus Sandin, Matt Roy, and Declan Chisholm, and forward Tom Wilson, all did not skate at Climate Pledge Arena. Head coach Spencer Carbery didn’t share any specifics on his injured players but said all missed practice due to being “banged-up.”

“Yeah, we’ll see tomorrow,” Carbery said. “They’re all a little bit banged up. We’ll just see where we’re at tomorrow. I’ll get a summary from Serbs (head athletic trainer Jason Serbus), and then we’ll go from there.”

Sandin played just 5:07 of ice time against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. The 25-year-old Swede was hurt with just 19 seconds remaining in the first frame, absorbing a hit from Oilers forward Curtis Lazar against the boards. After getting up slowly, Sandin got back into position and made a big shot block on defender Ty Emberson with the inside of his leg.

The Capitals later ruled him out of the rest of the game due to a lower-body injury. He has played in 47 of the team’s 53 games this season, recording 16 points (2g, 14a).

Roy and Wilson both played against the Oilers, with Roy skating 21:27 of ice time and Wilson not far behind at 19:31. Roy is one of just six Capitals players to feature in all 53 games this season, while Wilson is just three games removed from missing eight games with a lower-body injury.

Chisholm was a healthy scratch in Edmonton and has not played since he took the ice for the Capitals against the Colorado Avalanche on January 19. The 26-year-old blueliner has played in 18 games this season, his first with the Caps, recording three assists.

The Capitals will face the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night, their last road game out west before moving east to play the Red Wings in Detroit on Thursday night.
