Back after a long three day absence, the Washington Capitals are hosting the San Jose Sharks at Capital One Arena tonight. The matchup will give the Caps a first look at 2024 first overall pick Macklin Celebrini.

Spencer Carbery and Ryan Warsofsky, who both coached together with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays, will also coach against each other at the NHL level for the first time.

The Capitals-Sharks game is airing on Monumental Sports Network. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call. Puck drop is shortly after 7:00 pm.

2nd Period

Halfway through the period, the Sharks are beginning to dominate a bit with chances.

Miroshnichenko’s got his fourth point in the last five games. He kicked the puck to Fehervary, who found Dowder wide open in front of the net after a faceoff win.

At intermission: The Capitals are outshooting the Sharks 25 to 15 and narrowly out-attempting them at five-on-five, 43 to 41.


3rd Period

Tom Wilson to the box for four minutes for high-sticking Celebrini late. There’s 2:17 left in the game. If San Jose doesn’t score in regulation, the power play will extend into overtime.
