Ryan Leonard is the hottest player in college hockey and, on Monday afternoon, he received honors for his recent play.
After scoring in his sixth straight game against the Northeastern Huskies on Saturday night, the 19-year-old winger was named Hockey East Player of the Week. Leonard finished the week with six points (5g, 1a) in three games for the Boston College Eagles.
The Player of the Week honor is already Leonard’s second of the season, with the first being bestowed to him in late October.
Congratulations to Ryan Leonard on being named the @hockey_east Player of the Week and James Hagens for being named the Rookie of the Week!

Leonard extended his goal streak against the Huskies in BC’s 4-2 loss. After Mike Posma jammed a shot off the pads of goaltender Cameron Whitehead, Leonard crashed the net and batted home his 11th marker of the season.
Leonard is now the joint top goal scorer in the nation with 11 goals, joining Denver’s Sam Harris, who has played one more game. Harris’s shooting percentage (33.3%) is also over 17 percent higher than Leonard’s (16.2%). Leonard’s 68 shots on goal this season rank third in the nation.
If Leonard were to play another 41-game season for the Eagles, he’d be on pace to score 37 goals this year, which would be tied for the fifth-most ever in a single NCAA season by an under-20 skater.
James Hagens, Leonard’s linemate, was also named Hockey East Rookie of the Week. Hagens, the 2025 NHL Draft’s consensus number-one overall selection, assisted on three of Leonard’s five goals.
