The Washington Capitals will play their first home game of the 2024 preseason Sunday, as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Capital One Arena. This will mark both teams’ first exhibition games and omg I’m EXCITED I’m covering real-life hockey again!
The Caps are icing a lineup consisting of mostly of young stars and prospects while the Flyers have most of their opening night roster playing. You can see both rosters here.
Puck drop for the game is shortly after 3 pm. The tilt can be watched on Monumental Sports Network and NHL Network. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call. The game will have a practice shootout at its conclusion.
Both teams will be wearing the Fanatics’ new on-ice jerseys for the first time in a game.

The Flyers outshot the Capitals 7 to 6 in the first period though the Capitals dominated in 5v5 shot attempts 21 to 11. Craig Laughlin called Cristall the Capitals’ best player in the stanza.
