Former Capital Nathan Walker is officially a dad. Walker’s wife Tayla gave birth to the couple’s first child, a girl, at 12:50 PM on Saturday. They named her Winta Walker. And she’s a little undersized just like a papa too at 6.8 pounds.
“You will be forever loved baby girl,” Walker wrote on Instagram.
According to Baby Center, the name Winta means “desired.”
Walker, a Stanley Cup champion with the Capitals and the first-ever Australian to play and score in the NHL, is currently in the St. Louis Blues organization as a member of the San Antonio Rampage. He signed a two-year deal with the team over the offseason. Serving as an alternate captain, Walker has 19 goals and 32 points in 44 AHL games this season. Nathan has also played five games in the NHL this season and scored his second career goal – a brilliant shot while batting the puck out of mid-air.
Nathan and Tayla were originally married in July 2018 – a month after the Capitals clinched their first Stanley Cup in team history. Longtime Hershey Bears teammate Chandler Stephenson served as one of the groomsmen.
Congratulations, Nathan and Tayla. Welcome to the world, Winta.
