Former Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky took to Instagram on Tuesday to say goodbye to the only NHL organization he’s ever known. The Capitals traded Burakovsky to the Colorado Avalanche for a second an third-round draft pick in 2020.
“It’s been a true honor to be apart of the @capitals organization for 6 years,” Burakovsky wrote. “I have made memories and friends that can never be replaced. Thanks to all the coaches, trainers and all the players for my 5 years with the team. Love you all. I’m really excited to start a new chapter with the @coloradoavalanche can’t wait for the season to start!!”
Burakovsky got sweet comments back from former teammate Devante Smith-Pelly and Marcus Johansson as well as John Carlson’s wife Gina Carlson.


The Colorado Avalanche also chimed in to claim their new mans.

Burakovsky spent the day working out in his native Malmo, preparing for the next season.

Since leaving, Burakovsky has received kind tributes back, including from former roommate Tom Wilson and Jakub Vrana.
