Alex Ovechkin gave a second stick away in Calgary

On Saturday afternoon in Calgary, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin tossed his stick over the glass to a young Caps fan, making his day or possibly his entire life. Following the Capitals shootout win over the Flames, Ovi gave another twig away away.

Aydin, who greeted the victorious Caps with fist bumps, was visibly delighted when Ovi stopped, shook their hand, and then handed over his stick.

Aw, what a moment.

The moment was moving for Nastya Ovechkina, Ovi’s wife.

“I probably watched these videos from today’s game 100 times and every time I tear up,” she wrote on Instagram. “PS – I will never stop admiring your kindness and humanity, @aleksandrovechkinofficial❤️.”

During the broadcast of the game on NBC Sports Washington, Craig Laughlin mentioned that most of the Capitals brought six sticks with them on the road. Ovechkin brought 18.

Ovechkin’s bags will be a little lighter heading back to D.C., and two young Capitals fans will be all the happier for it.
