Alex Ovechkin takes ice before optional skate, does not wear pants

The Washington Capitals take on the Florida Panthers on Friday night. With the Capitals taking part in a full practice on Thursday, they opted to hold an optional skate Friday morning.

Captain Alex Ovechkin was one of the players to take to the ice for that skate, though he was a little underdressed.

Wearing only a sweatshirt and compression shorts (think spandex), Ovi skated around a little before optional skate officially began.

NBC Sports Washington’s JJ Regan believes that Ovi was testing out a new stick or skates.

Whatever the case, the Great 8 is making his case for inclusion on the thighlight reel.
