The Capitals held the first home game of the 2018-2019 preseason on Tuesday. The Capitals ultimately lost to the Bruins by a score of 5-2, but the real action was taking place far above the ice.
After having dinner with Andre Burakovsky, John Carlson and his oldest son Lucca joined other members of the team in a suite. Carlson filmed as Lucca munched on popcorn.
Captain Alex Ovechkin made a surprise guest appearance, checking in on his star defenseman and his mini-me, and sticking his tongue in the newly-enlarged gap in his teeth.
Their conversation went a little like this:
Carlson: Babe.
Ovechkin: All good, babe?
Carlson: All good.
The real videobomb star was of course Kyle Dubas goaltender Pheonix Copley, who watched his potentially new teammates with a smile from the row behind.
Carlson’s wife Gina wasn’t present, but she posted photos and video from the evening on her Instagram.
