Alex Ovechkin ate pie on television. In his appearance on NBCSN’s brilliant soccer show, Men in Blazers, Ovechkin mugged for the camera and tried desperately to keep up with Michael and Roger’s pace of speech.
Ovi’s segment is about 17 minutes into the program. Err.. programme. Whatever.
Roger and Michael drilled Ovechkin about his soccer team preferences. Ovi’s hometown bias was clear in choosing Dynamo Moscow first, but he admitted his favorite overall team is Barcelona and his favorite Premier League team is Liverpool. (With that last answer, a hush fell over the broadcast booth.)
Roger asked Ovechkin if he’d join the Russian Olympic soccer team for the 2018 world cup on his home turf. “No, I’m pretty good here,” Ovi said. “I’ll stay with hockey.” A political answer, but not enough to stem the flood of questions about Ovi’s topless soccer habit.

Ovechkin admitted his favorite position is goalie, and the two players identifies most with are Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba.
Before wrapping up the segment, the hosts asked Ovi if the Caps might sign Russian powerhouse forward and politician Vladimir Putin. “He probably costs too much,” Ovechkin responded.
Then Roger turns out the lights and shouts, “Russian machine never breaks!”
Thanks to @russianmachine for all their Ovi expertise
