For The Win’s Hemal Jhaveri just found a diamond in the rough on the Caps Reddit. It’s an old school assignment written by a nine-year-old TJ Oshie, which shows that his unselfishness is not a new trait.

Tiny Oshie wrote 21 years ago:

Last night I had a hockey game and I made a assist. Yes! A assist means that you pass your teammate the puck and he scores. My dad says that a assist means more to him than a goal.

The Caps have since confirmed the authenticity of the letter. Oshie’s father Tim, who’s currently battling through Alzheimer’s disease, taught TJ well.
