Midway through the first period, Evgeny Kuznetsov gathered in a pass from Marcus Johansson near the end boards and had little room to operate. With former Canadian Olympian defenseman Marc-Édouard Vlasic bearing down on him, Kuzy decided to try and stickhandle out of the corner.
