The Caps entered the first intermission with their heads down, trailing to the lowly Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 after the first 20 minutes of play. But let’s for a moment celebrate Evgeny Kuznetsov, who gave the Caps an early lead at the 12:02 mark of the first period.
The tally was Kuznetsov’s second goal of the season and it was brilliantly set up by his fellow countryman, Dmitry Orlov (AKA Snarls).

Watch as Dmitry Orlov leads the rush up the ice and threads a dynamite pass in the slot to Kuznetsov. The Russian center then held onto the puck for an extra second to get a better angle and snapped a wrister past Ward.
Alex Ovechkin, Kuznetsov’s close friend, was very excited about the tally. Check out the bottom left of the screen.
Kuznetsov also bent to one knee and pumped his fist.
Kuznetsov was not happy during his first intermission interview however with Tarik El-Bashir, after the Caps gave up two unanswered goals.

The pressing Kuznetsov now has three goals in his last 35 games dating back to last season and his first goal since October 20th against Florida.

Maybe this had something to do with it?
