Evgeny Kuznetsov stickhandles, dangles, and breaks some ankles

Coming into tonight’s contest against the Carolina Hurricanes, Caps center Evgeny Kuznetsov has been on fire, tallying assists in five straight games.

Judging by this sequence, it appears Kuznetsov’s good stretch is bound to continue in Raleigh. Kuzy just successfully completed another stickhandling drill during an actual hockey game.

The dangling began with just under ten minutes to go in the first period. Brett Connolly looked to breakout of the defensive zone by leading Kuznetsov with a pass into neutral. Jaccob Slavin stepped up at the red line, hoping to do… something. Instead Kuznetsov chipped the puck past the Hurricanes defenseman. Goodbye, Slavin.

Kuznetsov’s next victim was Slavin’s partner, Ron Hainsey, who Kuznetsov tied up in a knot by going inside and out with two dekes.

Wow.

And that’s your weekly reminder that Evgeny Kuznetsov is really good.

8:52 Update: Evgeny Kuznetsov tallied a primary assist on Justin Williams’ second period goal, giving him assists in six-straight games.

9:01 Update: More superb stickhandling from Kuzy.
