One of the most popular players on the Washington Capitals roster is headed to Gaithersburg.
Tom Wilson will be meeting with fans on Friday night as part of the grand opening of Dick’s House of Sport. Formerly a Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Rio Lakefront retailer just completed a $10.2 million transformation which will combine a traditional sporting goods shopping experience with hands-on athletic experiences. New features to the store include a rock-climbing wall, indoor track, and golf simulators.
Wilson is one of three athletes who are making appearances this weekend. Thursday, Washington Mystics’ center Lauren Betts participated in a ribbon-cutting, while Washington Commanders’ linebacker Sonny Styles is appearing in the store on Saturday from noon to 1:30 pm.
“I’ll be at @dickshouseofsport in Gaithersburg this Friday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm,” Wilson wrote on his Instagram Story. “Come by to hang and check out the new store! @dickssportinggoods #dickspartner”
Per Wilson’s Instagram post, a wristband is required to meet him, while no outside items will be signed. The store’s address is: 2 Grand Corner Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20878

Wilson, 32, is coming off consecutive 30-goal seasons with the Capitals. The alternate captain, likely to be the Capitals’ next captain when Alex Ovechkin retires, won an Olympic silver medal with Team Canada in February. The two-time NHL All-Star also helped the Capitals win a Stanley Cup championship in 2018.
