The Washington Capitals will wrap up their three-game road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night.

Before the matchup, the Capitals took to the ice at T-Mobile Arena for their morning skate. Joining the rest of his teammates was Ethen Frank, now no longer wearing a light blue no-contact jersey, per the Capitals’ John Walton. Frank has missed the past two games with a lower-body injury.

While Frank appears to be nearing a return to game action, the Capitals won’t be going away from any of the players who helped down the Utah Mammoth 7-4 on Thursday night.

“Same players will play,” head coach Spencer Carbery said.

The Capitals scored seven goals against the Mammoth, which was only the 13th game this season in which they scored five or more goals. They have only scored seven or more goals in six of those games.

Carbery confirmed that Logan Thompson will get the start against his former team. Thompson has dominated Vegas in his three previous starts against them, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage.

“Any time you go up against your former team in their building, in a place he lived a lot of years – you want to play well,” Carbery said. “It adds a little bit of added motivation for any player, goaltender, but now we’re starting to get to a point where LT has seen these guys quite a bit and (we) try to get him in the net whenever possible, whenever we’re playing Vegas.”

Outside of Thompson’s visit back to Nevada, the Capitals will also face off against Nic Dowd for the first time since he was dealt to the Golden Knights at the trade deadline. In 11 games for the Golden Knights since arriving, Dowd has recorded just one assist and is averaging 11:30 of ice time per game.

The Golden Knights have won just three of their last 10 games but still sit third in the NHL’s Pacific Division. They dropped their previous meeting against the Capitals 3-2 at Capital One Arena on February 27.
