The Washington Capitals will look the same against the Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon as they did against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
While that means the winning lineup stays together after an impressive performance in Buffalo, it also means the Capitals will again be without one of their trade deadline acquisitions. David Kampf, brought in from the Vancouver Canucks for a sixth-round draft pick, will miss his fourth straight game due to visa-related issues.
Kampf, 31, has been practicing with his new teammates since arriving from the Canucks, but has yet to dress in a game. After Saturday’s game, the Czech centerman will have just 14 more opportunities to play for the Capitals this season ahead of becoming an unrestricted free agent in July.
Carbery committing to the same lineup likely means Hendrix Lapierre will remain in the top six as a winger, and Connor McMichael will stay down the middle on the fourth line.
Projected Capitals lineup for 3/14 game against Bruins
Logan Thompson is set to take his crease back from Charlie Lindgren after the latter starred in the Capitals’ 2-1 victory over the Sabres. Thompson lost his last start, allowing three goals on just 21 shots to the Philadelphia Flyers.
In six career starts against the Bruins, Thompson is 3-3 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.
The Capitals have already lost twice to the Bruins this season, the most recent defeat coming a week ago in Boston. The Bruins dropped their last game coming into Saturday’s action, falling 4-2 to the San Jose Sharks on home ice.
