The Capitals’ 28-year-old forward has a YouTube channel entitled @DivinwithDEW that he’d like you to follow, which he claims is soon to feature videos of his time under the sea.

“We’re going to need people to subscribe and really get it going off the ground here,” Duhaime told reporters half-jokingly at practice on Saturday. “I’m really pushing for it.”

Duhaime spent much of his time over the offseason spearfishing in his native Florida.

“[It’s] just a hobby that I really enjoy in the summertime,” Duhaime said. “We just head down there for the weekends and try to get on the water as much as we can.”

He added, “I got some good GoPro footage of it this summer, so maybe we’ll put something out and let everyone see what it is about. [It’s] third-person video, so the person I was with was filming me while I dove down. I got a couple shots of the GoPro when it’s on my forehead.”

As of publishing, Duhaime hadn’t uploaded any of that footage to the YouTube channel which was first created in 2014. Though, his channel already boasts 370 subscribers. He’s posted previous spear fishing trips on social media like one he took to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico during the 2023 NHL All-Star break.

Duhaime isn’t the only fishing enthusiast on the Caps either. Defenseman Martin Fehervary is also a noted angler with his own public record of success in catching marine life.

“He’s doing the river stuff, right? The fly fishing,” Duhaime commented on Fehervary’s kindred hobby. “It’s a lot different from the open ocean and stuff like that but it’s fun stuff.”

Another Caps blue liner, Jakob Chychrun, apparently joined Duhaime on a spear fishing trip this summer but it doesn’t appear he’ll be making a return visit any time soon.

“[I] took him out spearfishing, actually, and it didn’t go too good for him,” Duhaime said chuckling. “You’d have to ask him how it went. Probably give you a good story.”
