ARLINGTON, VA — The Washington Capitals got all dressed up Monday morning, gathering before practice to take their annual team photo at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. With less than a month remaining in the regular season, the Caps have just a dozen games to go as they attempt to keep their spot atop the NHL standings.

Sonny Milano was back on the ice — signature hairdo and all — for the photos after missing most of the campaign with an upper-body injury, as was Jakob Chychrun, who sat out of the the subsequent practice while recovering from a “significant” cut he sustained against the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

Neither Nicklas Backstrom nor TJ Oshie, who have been away from the Caps all season, were included in the photos. Backstrom stepped back from the team in November 2023 as a result of a long-term hip injury, while TJ Oshie went on injured reserve at the start of the 2024-25 campaign after dealing with recurring back issues for several years.

After smiling for the cameras, the Caps changed back into their practice uniforms and hit the ice for their last skate before heading to the airport. Washington will face the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday and the Minnesota Wild Thursday for their final Western Conference road trip of the regular season.
