The Washington Capitals announced they cut forwards Ivan Miroshnichenko and Andrew Cristall from their Training Camp roster on Monday morning.

Miroshnichenko will return to the Hershey Bears while Cristall will head back to the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets.

Cristall tied for the Capitals’ preseason lead in scoring with three points (2g, 1a) in four games while Miroshnichenko had two points (1g, 1a) and fired eight shots on goal.

The moves pave the way for the Capitals to sign Jakub Vrana, who has been at this year’s Training Camp on a professional tryout agreement. Vrana tallied two points (1g, 1a), and led Washington in shots on goal (11) during the preseason.

The Capitals’ Opening Night roster is due to the NHL by 5 pm. Sunday, the Capitals placed goaltender Hunter Shepard on waivers.
