Artemi Panarin is going viral for an incredible move he tried in a charity game, pitting Russian KHL and NHL stars against each other at Moscow’s CSKA Arena.
Panarin tried a Michigan spin move on a breakaway, where he picked up the puck with the blade of his stick and then flung it at the net as he spun. The New York Rangers’ star didn’t score, but the attempt was jaw-dropping.
Panarin’s attempt went wide, but the fact he pulled off the move in a game situation was impressive. He also managed to keep the shot legal as his stick stayed under the crossbar as he spun. This means this move could be attempted someday in an NHL game if any player is brave enough to try.
The friendly, entitled “Match of the Year,” was primarily organized by Panarin and new Utah HC defenseman Mikhail Sergachev. The game ended in an 8-8 tie.
Alex Ovechkin scored in the game and was named the MVP.
