Capitals sign Taylor Raddysh to one-year, $1 million deal

The Washington Capitals have continued to add to their roster in free agency, signing depth winger Taylor Raddysh to a one-year, $1 million contract.

PuckPedia was first to report the deal on Monday afternoon.

Raddysh, 26, recorded 14 points (5g, 9a) in 73 games with the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks last season.

After a strong 2022-23 campaign that saw him score 20 goals and tally 37 points (tying for third-most on the team), Raddysh struggled to recreate that offensive flash in 2023-24. The Caledon, Ontario native served on all four lines at times last season, playing primarily middle-six minutes but also spending time as a healthy scratch.

Raddysh, a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2016, began his NHL career in Tampa in 2021 before a trade sent him to Chicago later that season. In 225 career NHL games, he has recorded 73 total points (36g, 37a).

While the six-foot-three forward was set to become a RFA this offseason, the Blackhawks opted not to tender him a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent. The Capitals signed Dylan Strome under similar circumstances in 2022, bringing him onboard after Chicago declined to qualify him.

Raddysh will have some familiar faces when he arrives in Washington. He played alongside Strome on both the Blackhawks and the OHL’s Erie Otters, and spent time in juniors as teammates with Rasmus Sandin on the Soo Greyhounds.
