Ethen Frank has been one of the Hershey Bears’ best players six games into the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs, but they will be without him for Game Three of the Atlantic Division Finals against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Minutes before puck drop, the Bears announced that Frank would not suit up due to injury and Matthew Phillips would take his place in the lineup. Frank is tied for the team-lead in goals (5) and is second on the team in points (7).

Phillips, who has been scratched for the last three games, will suit up on the Bears’ quick first line with Hendrix Lapierre and Joe Snively. Phillips is without a point in the Calder Cup Playoffs thus far.

Without Frank, the Bears will need to find scoring elsewhere. The Capitals prospect has scored in three consecutive games and has notched the game-winner in all three of those matchups. He has four game-winners already in this postseason, tying a Hershey Bears’ franchise record.

Hershey is playing at Connecticut’s XL Center as they try to close out their best-of-five series against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
