The Washington Capitals had a special guest at their morning skate at Bell Centre.

Max, a fan of the team from the Montreal area, was behind the scenes rooting them on. The Capitals gave Max the experience after learning he was in remission from cancer.

The Caps fan came to the rink wearing an Alex Ovechkin home jersey and left with it signed after meeting the GOAT himself. Ovi lit up when he saw Max, extending the kid a mammoth hug and giving him a parting gift.

Max received one of Ovechkin’s sticks with a personally inscribed autograph.

The inscription read: To Max from Ovi.

Max also got to meet the rest of the team, having them sign the number eight on the back of his jersey. The Capitals posted photos of Max with former Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty, Tom Wilson, TJ Oshie, Rasmus Sandin, and Darcy Kuemper.

The most priceless interaction may have been when Max met Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery, who has a gift for making people feel special and a part of the group.

Here’s how the conversation went.

Spencer Carbery: Hi, Max. How are you doing? I love it. You got a stick! I heard you’re a huge Caps fan. Have you ever been to a Washington game?

Max: Yeah, I went every single time they come here, I come watch it.

Spencer Carbery: I love it. I love it. Well, tell you what. We’ve got something special for you tonight. We want you to introduce the starting lineup in the locker room in front of the team.

Max: YEAH! Thank you!

Spencer Carbery: Would you do that?

Max: Yeah.

Spencer Carbery: You sure?

Max: Yeah! Thank you so much.

Spencer Carbery: I love it. We’re gonna get you in there. We’ll give you the starters and you’ll read it to the whole team before we go out and play Montreal.

Hopefully, the Capitals can also deliver Max a win tonight as well.

Update: Here’s Max announcing the starting lineup in the Capitals locker room. Way to go!
