TJ Oshie scored both Capitals goals in Washington’s 4-2 Game One loss to the New York Islanders on Wednesday.
The forward also jumped in goal and made a high-danger save for Braden Holtby after the goaltender got deked out of the crease by Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
Oshie actually started the whole mess when he turned the puck over behind the net. But he did what every youth hockey player is taught when they make a mistake: hustle back and try to minimize the damage.
After Holtby slid out of the crease, Oshie got back to the net-front just in time to stop Pageau’s dunk attempt with his left skate. As Oshie slipped and fell to the ice, he swept the puck away from the goal line with his right hand.
The close play created this incredible photo that NBC Sports shared on Instagram.
