The Washington Capitals will once again be without their Norris finalist today, according to Caps head coach Todd Reirden. Defender John Carlson will not play in today’s round-robin game against the Boston Bruins.
Forward Nicklas Backstrom will be a game-time decision.
If Backstrom does not play, Brian Pinho or Philippe Maillet will take his spot at second-line center. Backstrom missed practice on Friday for undisclosed reasons.
Sunday’s Caps-Bruins game will mark the third game John Carlson has missed since taking an awkward fall at the end of an exhibition game.
Meanwhile, Forward Lars Eller remains in quarantine in Toronto before he can rejoin the team since leaving to attend the birth of his son. Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was benched from the end of the Caps-Flyers game, will play today.
