The NHL announced Monday afternoon that of 7,013 COVID-19 tests run since the beginning of phase four, there have been zero positive results.
In short, the experiment is working.
As usual, the league will handle all injury/infection announcements, and individual infections are not expected to be disclosed.

Statement from the National Hockey League on COVID-19 testing results
The NHL completed the first week of its Phase 4 Return to Play with no positive test results for COVID1-9 among the 7,013 tests administered. Testing was administered on a daily basis to all members of the Clubs’ 52-member traveling parties, including Players, during the period from July 27 through August 1. All 24 teams entered the secure zone in Edmonton and Toronto on July 26 for the beginning of Phase 4. The NHL will continue to provide regular updates on COVID-19 testing results. The League will not be providing information on the identity of any individuals or Clubs.
“Obviously, in this environment — the greater COVID-19 environment — nothing is risk-free,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said on NBC last week, “but working collectively and collaboratively with the players and the Players’ Association, our own medical people, the outside experts, we think we created a format and protocols that now that we’re inside the bubble can feel relatively safe. But there’s no absolute guarantee. We’re hopeful and we believe everybody’s doing everything to make this experience as safe as possible.”
He added, “I don’t think you can take anything for granted.”
In total, 43 NHL players tested positive in Phase 2 and two players tested positive during Phase 3 Training Camp.
