The Washington Capitals announced Monday that defender Brenden Dillon has teamed up with the MSE Foundation to donate 10,000 level-two medical face masks to causes in the region. The donations to MedStar Health, DC Central Kitchen, and Martha’s Table are intended to help those organization continue their work during the pandemic.
Dillon, 29, was traded from the San Jose Sharks before the 2020 trade deadline. Dillon is reportedly well liked by the players and front office alike, and buzz of a contract extension has spread since the league paused in March.

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals defenseman Brenden Dillon and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation have teamed up to donate 10,000 3-ply Level 2 medical face masks to the following non-profit organizations: MedStar Health, DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) and Martha’s Table in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. MedStar Health received 6,000 masks, while both Washington, D.C., based food assistance organizations received 2,000 masks.
MedStar Health will distribute the masks to their healthcare heroes on the front lines across their health system. DCCK will distribute the masks to community members receiving the organization’s grocery bags at their nearly 80 food and bag distribution sites. Martha’s Table will provide the masks to their volunteers, who enable the organization to distribute more than 8,000 bags of nutritious groceries equating approximately 50 tons of food weekly.
“I am incredibly thankful for everyone assisting the D.C. area in the fight against COVID-19,” said Dillon. “Whether its serving patients in our hospitals or fighting hunger by providing groceries, each organization is making a huge difference. Masks are so important for them to safely make that difference, and I am happy to support their efforts through this donation.”
