David Pastrnak finally addressed his random tweet about Tom Wilson after the Bruins’ 4-1 exhibition loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Thursday.
Pasta, who tied Alex Ovechkin for the most goals (48) in the NHL this season, tweeted, “In my opinion Tom Wilson is the best goal scorer in the league.” Many fans and analysts suspected someone may have hacked Pastrnak’s phone.
“I just felt like it,” Pastrnak said according to the NHL’s Amalie Benjamin. “I wanted to say it. It was my opinion. Nobody hacked my Twitter. It was all me and it was my own fingers typed that in.”
He then added, “It was a little side bet with Tom from back in the day.”
Pastrnak scored Boston’s only goal against CBJ.
Later, Zdeno Chara and David Krejci added more confusion to the situation.
Zdeno Chara + David Krejci on Pastrnak's Tom Wilson tweet:
Chara: "You'll have to ask David."
Krejci: "I actually know who's responsible for that. But you'll have to ask David."

Before the Capitals’ exhibition game against the Hurricanes, Wilson was also asked about the tweet. He had no comment, beyond saying “shenanigans have begun.”
Tom Wilson says he might have to give Pastrnak a follow after this. Added that he has no comment on how the tweet happened but said “shenanigans have begun” https://t.co/UDcN0BRXhW
