TSN’s Frank Seravalli is reporting the key dates for the rest of the season and the start of next.
The 2020 Stanley Cup Final will be hosted in Edmonton and tentatively begin on September 20. The SCup will be presented no later than October 2, meaning it might still be possible to swim in fountains if the Capitals are able to win it all again.

🔔 July 25: Exhibition games
🔔 July 30: Qualif. round begins
🔔 Aug. 9: First round of playoffs begins
🔔 Aug. 23: Second round begins
🔔 Sept. 6: Conf Finals begin

Also, tentative date for 2020 #NHLDraft is Oct. 6. It must follow the end of the Stanley Cup Final and precede the free agent signing period.

The NHL is also targeting mid-November for the start of training camps for the 2020-21 season and December 1 as the start of the regular season.

Ultimately, this is all subject to change and all may be pushed back a few days, because it lists July 10 as the start of training camps. But we aren't anticipating them to open until July 13.

This timeline comes a day after it was revealed we will be able to watch 15 hours total of hockey per day when the 24-team playoff begins.
