Ilya Samsonov is en route to Washington.
The Capitals backup goaltender posted a selfie from inside the airplane while his wife Maria shared video of an airplane taking off.
“Back to Washington,” she wrote.
Samsonov returned to Russia and his hometown of Magnitogorsk during the coronavirus pandemic. It appears his visa issues (his expired on April 6) have been taken care of.
During the pandemic, Samsonov spent much of his time outdoors, including driving ATVs.
