Update from American Hockey League Regarding 2019-20 Season
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The American Hockey League has advised its clubs that the indefinite suspension of AHL play will not be lifted before May.
The League is recommending that teams facilitate the return of AHL players to their primary residences.
The AHL appears to be following in the NHL’s footsteps, at least so far.
The NHL season is unlikely to start again before May 10 per CDC recommendations. The NHL released a statement and announced that training camps would not begin until April 30 – at the earliest.
The NHL officially froze rosters at 5 PM today so several teams made minor roster moves.

NHL teams have been told that the four-recall rule post-trade deadline will continue to apply if the seasons resumes.

With CDC restrictions predicted to become stricter in the coming days and some bans possibly stretching into the summer, the NHL and AHL may be forced to cancel their seasons.
