NBC will nationally broadcast the Capitals-Avalanche game as Alex Ovechkin continues chase for 700 goals

NBC Sports announced this morning that NBCSN will be picking up the Capitals-Avalanche game on Thursday. It will mark the second Capitals game NBC Sports has picked up this week.

NBC, of course, is following Alex Ovechkin as the Capitals captain tries to score 700 goals.

The Avalanche also announced that the game was pushed back from 9 PM EST to 9:30 PM EST to accommodate the change.

NBCSN Doubleheader on Thursday Features Capitals-Avalanche Immediately Following Coverage of Flyers-Panthers

STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 11, 2020 – With Alex Ovechkin just two goals shy of reaching 700 goals for his NHL career, NBC Sports has flexed into its second Capitals game this week, adding Washington’s game against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo, on Thursday night.

Thursday night’s coverage of Capitals-Avalanche will be the second half of an NHL doubleheader on NBCSN, immediately following originally-scheduled coverage of Flyers-Panthers, which begins at 7 p.m. ET. Pre-game coverage at 6 p.m. ET with NHL Live.

Ovechkin currently sits at 698 career goals and would become just the eighth player in NHL history to reach the 700-goal milestone.
