The Minnesota Wild had an embarrassing miscue before the start of Tuesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Head coach Bruce Boudreau filled out the lineup card wrong and the Wild are only playing with five defensemen.
The Minnesota Wild are playing with 5 defensemen tonight because they.. forgot to list a 6th one on their lineup sheet.

Wild defenseman Greg Pateryn was supposed to play and was on the bench for the start of the game. But on the game sheet, he was listed as a healthy scratch. So the refs removed him from the bench and Ryan Donato, a forward, dressed and eventually made his way down to the bench.
In a bizarre start tot his game it appears Wild coach Bruce Boudreau submitted an incorrect lineup roster. He had Donato listed as playing, but the team dressed Pateryn. So Pateryn heads down the runway and is ineligible -SK

This was not a good time for a mistake. The Penguins are currently one of hottest teams in hockey and have gone 18-6-4 while Sidney Crosby has been out of the lineup with injury. Crosby made his grand return tonight.
The Penguins have activated Sidney Crosby from injured reserve. Crosby has missed the previous 28 games following core muscle injury repair on Nov. 14.
In the 28 games that Crosby has missed, the Penguins accumulated a 18-6-4 record.
