Former Capital Mike Green is now the proud papa of two children.
Over the weekend, Green missed the final game of the Detroit Red Wings’ three-game west coast road trip for the delivery of his second child, a girl, named Lula.
Mike and Courtney Green already have a three-year-old boy, Axel Rain Green.
Congrats to the Green's on their new baby girl!

A full transcript of the interview follows.
Tell me about the journey and what happened?
Mike Green: “Obviously we were out on the west coast. I tried to get back as soon as possible. I just missed it, but I guess I showed up at the perfect time anyways.”
How exciting. It’s your first girl.
Mike Green: “It’s really exciting. Most importantly, they’re both healthy and doing well. So now we just kind of take it one day at a time.”
What is the name?
Mike Green: “Lula.”
How does Axel feel?
Mike Green: “He was excited. He was actually really excited. He’s been sweet… so far.” [laughs]
How did you guys come up with the name?
Mike Green: “My wife liked it a lot. We bounced some names around and when we met her we came to an agreement.”
How thrilling was it even though you were a little bit late?
Mike Green: “I mean it’s always an experience. You just feel really blessed and full so it’s an exciting time for myself and my wife.”
How much inspiration do you have after a moment like that?
Mike Green: “Yeah, it puts things into perspective and priorities shift again. It’s just a beautiful thing.”
How tough was the road trip ahead knowing this was about to happen?
Mike Green: “Yeah, I was hoping she would come before we left but once we got out there, I was expecting for her to come when I was gone because it was going to happen that way. When we got down to the last day, I might be able to get back and sure enough, she called me that morning. But yeah, it all happened like I said in the perfect time.”
Slept at all?
Mike Green: “Nope.” [laughs]
