Richard Panik has scored his first goal as a Washington Capital.
Twelve games and 50 seconds into his stint as a Cap, Panik caught a pass from Travis Boyd and then positively roofed it.

The Caps buzzed from the opening puck drop. A few shifts into the game, the fourth line was deep in Anaheim’s zone. Travis Boyd settled the puck behind John Gibson’s net and sent a smart pass to Panik near the faceoff dot. Panik somehow got top shelf on it.
Not only his first goal as a Cap, but this was also Panik’s first point. Meanwhile, Travis Boyd is on fire as he fights to keep a spot on the roster.

As the goal celebration began, the Capitals played Panic! At The Disco’s Hey Look Ma, I Made It.
The goal comes in Panik’s fifth game back since returning from an upper-body injury.
“It wasn’t a good start for me,” Panik said. “But (when) I was sitting out, I could think about what I should do better, how should I play, what should I bring to the team, so it’s a good opportunity for me to start over.”
Panik recorded a season-high six shots on goal last week against the Philadelphia Flyers and tallied three SOGs against the Bruins Saturday.
“The best hockey I play is when you don’t think about it,” Panik said. “You just go out there and play and that’s what I’m focused on now.”
