Nicklas Backstrom moves into seventh place for most points ever by a Swedish-born player

Nicklas Backstrom registered a secondary assist on Alex Ovechkin’s 13th goal of the season, Thursday night against the Panthers. It was a milestone point.

With the assist, Backstrom jumped ahead of Hockey Hall of Famer Peter Forsberg for seventh place on the all-time points list for Swedish-born players.

The top eight Swedish players on this list includes three Hall of Famers in total: Mats Sundin, Nicklas Lindstrom, and Forsberg.

Backstrom got the assist by winning the offensive zone faceoff.
