Former Capital Brett Connolly said before the game that “once Willie hits me one time I think that’ll be it. Then it’ll be on so it’s going to be fun.”
Instead, Connolly got mugged by Alex Ovechkin in front of the Caps bench towards the end of the period.
The extra clutching and grabbing put a big ol’ smile on Conno’s face. Connolly scored a go-ahead goal minutes before.
“It doesn’t mean anything when you’re smiling,” Alan May said, not a fan.
