After Jakub Vrana’s hat trick, Adam Eaton kept throwing hats that had already been collected back onto the ice

The Washington Nationals got to experience a rare thing during Sunday’s game at Capital One Arena: a hat trick.

After Jakub Vrana scored his first career hatty in the second period against the Flames, the Nationals, who were already drinking after every goal, had an epic celebration in the stands.

Adam Eaton, who was was at ice level to be honored by the crowd, threw at least five Capitals hats that had already been collected back onto the ice.

“This is some of the most fun we’ve ever had at a hockey game tonight,” John Walton said as he watched Eaton above.

In the Nationals suite, several players got into the spirit too by throwing their World Series champion hats.

It’s unclear if they actually made it to the ice or not but it’s the thought – and enthusiasm – that counts.
