Alex Luey, a friend of the Capitals and especially Alex Ovechkin, attended the Leafs’ game to see his favorite team. According to the pregame broadcast, he got to read the starting lineup in the locker room.
Luey first met Ovechkin in 2017, when he was declared cancer-free. Luey’s cancer has returned and is untreatable.
So proud of my son Alex, this weekend he played his heart out at the #HSSledgechallenge on Friday and participated in the #rankinrun on Saturday all while battling cancer that has returned and, we’ve learned, is untreatable #Lueystrong #RankinCancerRun pic.twitter.com/ViJ2uGliCv
