Chandler Stephenson has scored his first goal of the season in a way that was both unlikely and appropriate.
The famously offense-allergic Stephenson beat Flames goalie Cam Talbot without really meaning to shoot.

With the Caps up 1-0 in the second period, 25-year-old Stephenson rushed Talbot behind the Calgary net. Stephenson picked the goalie’s pocket and sent the puck up the slot. There it found the legs of defender Rasmus Andersson and bounced into the net.

Stephenson had not scored since December 31, 2018 – a total of 36 games. Last season he ranked near the bottom of the league in individual offense. That didn’t stop him here. Real head’s up play.
