Alex Ovechkin got a special surprise after the morning skate Tuesday. Calgary Flames great Theoren Fleury was at the Saddledome and came down meet him.
“Went down to the Dome this morning and found out Ovi is a big Theo Fleury fan,” the 1989 Stanley Cup champion wrote on his Instagram page. “Said his yellow laces and tinted visor inspiration came from me wearing them back in the day!!!! He also asked me for an autographed stick. Who’d of thought. Great morning.”

Ovechkin requesting a hockey stick from Fleury is not a surprise. The Great 8 has a huge hockey stick collection featuring all the greats. He recently showed it off during an E:60 feature.

Former Capitals forward Troy Brouwer was also at the rink meeting with his former teammates and co-workers. Brouwer wore a Nationals’ hat. The forward scored the last-minute game-winning at the 2015 Winter Classic at Nats Park.
Great to run into @TroyBrouwer36 today in Calgary. And yes, a Nationals Park hockey hero representing the @Nationals for Game 1 tonight from afar! #STAYINTHEFIGHT #ItsOKtoBelieve pic.twitter.com/RMTK9JOH52
